GUJ.DE takes the protection of your personal information very seriously. In the following, we would like to explain in brief how GUJ.DE feels
about privacy protection, how we protect your personal information and what that means for you when you use our customizable services.
GUJ.DE´s basic attitude is that protecting your privacy is a top priority for us. That is why we see compliance with laws on privacy protection
as a matter of course. Above and beyond that, it is important to us that you know at all times when we store what information, and how we use
it. Please consult the Gruner + Jahr Privacy Policy below for details (Version dated May 2005).
Please do not hesitate to send any privacy protection related questions, suggestions or comments to: guj-redaktion@guj.de.
What counts as personal information?
First off, we´d like to explain what GUJ.DE defines as personal information. "Personal, identity-related information" is information that can
be used explicitly to learn your identity. This includes information like your real name, address, street address, phone number. It does not
include information that cannot be linked directly with your real identity, such as favorite websites or number of users of a given site.
Where do you collect personal information?
GUJ.DE asks you for your last name, first name and other personal information when you register for one of our custom services such as
ordering information material, subscribing to press releases or using the download library. We also record this information when you order a
subscription. GUJ.DE stores this information on a specially protected server in Germany. We only collect any and all information relating to
your identity if you have explicitly provided them to us.
Do we disclose personal information to third parties?
In cases of orders and applications, we only use your personal information inside Gruner + Jahr AG & Co KG and companies associated with it
under the Stock Corporation Act. We do not disclose it to third parties without having obtained your explicit permission. We value the trust you bring to our relationship,
and take the greatest care to protect your personal information.
You Have the Right to Delete Your Information at All Times
If you have given us personal information, you have the possibility of simply deleting it again at any time. If you would like to do so,
please send an e-mail to guj-redaktion@guj.de.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are tiny text files currently used by thousands of websites to be able to present users with as individualized an experience as
possible. When a user visits a website, the site operator´s server sends the
user´s browser not only the HTML page, but a Cookie as well. Depending on its user settings, the browser decides whether to store the
Cookie on the user´s computer. As pure text files, Cookies cannot infiltrate or damage the user´s system. In particular, your browser
blocks Cookies such that only the site that placed them can read them. The text files are deposited by the server of the visited website,
and during your next visit to this site are sent by your browser to our server, e.g. to show different ads during this visit, or to provide
you with information about your past visits to this site. GUJ.DE places Cookies specifically for distributing advertising and to count page
views. A random number - a kind of pseudonym - is assigned to the user in the form of a Cookie, which helps the server to recognize that
the request has come from the same user, but without gaining information about the user´s identity or other information. This is important
mainly to give advertising customers an idea of how many different users see their ad during a given period of time. Besides, such Cookies
generally have a life of just 24 hours. GUJ.DE also deposits Cookies - some of them with a longer life - when you register for the download
library: Cookies contain no personal information, only your password is stored at GUJ.DE on a specially protected server in Germany in order
to recognize your computer during your next visit and facilitate the login process. Your browser ensures that no website other than GUJ.DE
can access this information.
If you prefer not to benefit from the advantages of Cookies
If you prefer not to benefit from the advantages of Cookies, you may easily activate and deactivate them in your browser. However, this
means that we will not be able to offer you some of the website´s features. Please refer to your browser´s Help file for details.
No Liability for Partner Sites
We would like to point out that GUJ.DE partners and other Internet sites and services that are accessed via GUJ.DE sites, as well as
partners who collect information in connection with prize draws, promotions and the like, have their own privacy protection guidelines
that are independent of GUJ.DE. GUJ.DE assumes no responsibility of liability for these guidelines and procedures, which have no connection
with GUJ.DE. Our Right to Change the Guidelines with Prior NoticeGUJ.DE reserves the right to change these guidelines at any time taking
